Front Yard & Porch The Whaley Mansion is located on third street in the quiet part of Chelan just across the Chelan River from downtown. That makes it close enough to walk into town but quiet enough to sit on the front porch, relax and enjoy the flowers that always seem to be in bloom. Click on images to enlarge.

Front Porch Entry Lights The Old Judge Long's House next store was the second Bed & Breakfast belonging to Mary Kay's Whaley Manson. It was sold a couple of years ago to Dell Reyes and is now the Wild Rose Bed & Breakfast. During the first couple of years that Wild Rose was in business Mary Kay & Carol helped Dell with her business. The first lamp was given to them as a Thank you present. It was purchased from a wonderful shop in downtown Chelan called Carol's Special Addition. At the same time the shop had just undergone a remodel and during their Grand Re-Opening they had a drawing for a grand prize. Beyond belief Mary Kay won this drawing and yes- the grand prize was the second matching statue light. I guess it was meant to be that these two statues were to remain together and now they stand prominently on the front porch.

 Front Porch Apple Label Mural
This Mural on the front of Whaley Mansion of the RENN BRAND LABEL.
The Mural was Designed by Mary Kay Addis and Painted by Robert Blackaby. The Renn label is a very early one, 1919, and the Wren Bird is for the Renn family. Some of our most colorful pictures are the old Apple labels. From the 1920s into the end of the 1940s, every grower had their own personal labels, some had several different designs. These labels were hand glued to the ends of the wooden Apple boxes. If the ground color of the label is dark blue, that signifies the apples in the box are Extra Fancy.
If the Ground color of the label is red that means the Apples in the box are fancy grade. Click on images to enlarge.

Entry Nutcracker
Naturally it seems out of place - but Mary Kay and Carol enjoy the holidays so much that they have many holiday decorations up year round. This is part of the magic of the Whaley Mansion - it's just a happy place to stay for Visitors and Innkeepers alike.

 Second Floor Parlor
This is just one of many places to sit and relax. This room goes out to the second floor deck that has wonderful lake views and usually a nice breeze coming off the lake. The room, as you can see has wonderful woodwork, that can also be found throughout the house. This window was designed to always allow light into the hallway. True craftsmanship in this house.

Second Floor - Rear Stairway Light
While this isn't a great antique with a grand adventure attached to it, it is one of many decorative pieces in the house that adds to its beauty. I am sure it has lit the way for many a guest that have stayed here over the years - over 35,000!

House Mannequins
New Orleans Mardi Gras Mannequins,
You find several of these throughout the house. They originally began as part of the Chelan's Float that won all the awards in the Apple Blossom Parade years ago, which had the theme of Mardi Gras. The owner in order to prevent them from getting damaged thought that they should stay at the Whaley Mansion. They have enjoyed it here so much they have been her ever since!

Third Floor Rear Stairway Light
This Chinese Lantern was purchased while on a trip to San Francisco. Found in a small shop in Chinatown the very fragile lamp has been slowly disintegrating over the years. I guess Mary Kay & Carol will have to go back to San Francisco to find a replacement.
